Developing a PACE Informed Approach
Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity and Empathy (PACE) is a therapeutic approach which can work wonders with children and young people.
PACE method is a way of thinking, feeling, communicating and behaving which can be highly effective in connecting with children.
Rather than adopting a top-down, authoritarian, parent-vs-child approach, a PACE approach encourages children and adults to open up to each other by creating a sense of safety.
This is a one day course that explores PACE as a therapeutic approach to parenting that holds in mind the developmental trauma experienced by fostered and adopted children and young people.
By the end of the day, participants will:
- Have explored each of the elements involved in PACE
- Have considered the role of love … as the “essential ingredient?”
- Understand how PACE relates to attachment theory
- Understand the importance of intersubjective relationships
- Know how to adopt a PACE attitude to practice within their work
